Sketchbook/visual journaling has been an important part of my art practice for many years.

I have developed a series of Sketchbook Journalling workshops, each demonstrating a different way to document an event, experiment with an art/craft style, store memories, with a variety of ways to make a journal more visually interesting and memorable.

In 2015, I started making sketchbook journalling a bigger part of my artistic life, to get back into regular creativity, as family commitments and other life events had taken priority for quite some time and I realised I had got quite out of practice.

Having a place to do my art was beneficial in so many ways, practically and for my mental health, to create for creation’s sake: it allowed me to continue practicing my art even when I was not able to do so professionally for a time.

I am now working full-time as a self-employed illustrator again, but I still make time for my sketchbook whenever I can.

“I have attended Lorraine’s sketchbook journaling workshops, Lorraine creates a warm, welcoming and non-judgemental atmosphere, where you can create your own way of expressing yourself in your journal whether you are arty or not. I would recommend these lovely two hours of time to shut your busy world out and just have fun creating!”
